A Treendale family of seven whose house was destroyed by fire are being donated furniture from Ventura Home Group, one of WA’s largest and most respected building companies, to furnish their replacement home.

On November 2nd last year, firefighters were called to the O’Brien family’s home near Australind, in the South West, as it was engulfed by flames caused by an electrical fault. It took firefighters just over an hour to bring the blaze under control, leaving an estimated $400,000 damage to the house which had to be demolished.

Fast forward to this year, and Tristan and Lacey O’Brien have chosen to rebuild with Smart Homes for Living – part of Western Australia’s second largest home builder, Ventura Home Group.

Tristan and Lacey have five children aged from 6 to 13 and are building a 6-bedroom custom designed home aptly named ‘Colossus’.

With a big family and a big home, the couple have been grappling with how they could furnish the house but that became a lot easier when they attended their pre-start appointment in the Ventura Home Group’s head office in Bunbury.

A surprise visitor to the meeting was Ventura Home Group Director Mark Di Masi who wanted to meet the couple after hearing about the difficult time the family had endured since the fire destroyed their home and most of their belongings.

“My brother Phil and I established Ventura Home Group more than 25 years ago and during that time the guiding principle for us has been to operate the company on the family values that our parents instilled in us,” Mark said. “Tristan and Lacey have such a positive outlook, are active members in their community and we feel privileged they have put their trust in Smart Homes and the broader Ventura Home Group to create a new home for their family.” Mr Di Masi said the O’Brien’s would be given modern and stylish furniture from Ventura Home Group’s display homes to meet the family’s needs.

“As Tristan and Lacey continue on their home building journey with Smart Homes for Living, our team including our company interior designer will work with them to choose the furniture in readiness for the handover of their new home in October.”

Tristan O’Brien said he and Lacey were touched by the kindness of Ventura Home Group. “A huge thank you to all the team at Ventura Home Group for their generosity and support it means the world to us”, Tristan said.

Ventura Home Group General Manager in the South West, Daryl Brough said the company was delighted to help the family when they had gone through such hard times. “The South West community is close knit, we all support each other in times of need and the O’Brien’s deserved a helping hand.”

More than 1,500 Western Australians put their trust in Ventura Home Group to build their homes each year and the company has received more than 1,000 industry awards across its home builder brands, which include Aussie Living Homes, Express Living Homes, Smart Homes for Living, Ventura Homes and Developments by Ventura Homes.
